Additionally, it provides protection against the hydatid tapeworm (Echinococcus granulosus) in dogs.
Active Constituents
Each tablet of Popantel Tapewormer contains 50 mg of the active ingredient Praziquantel, which is known for its effectiveness against various tapeworm species.
Precautions
It's important to note that due to the nature of praziquantel, some cats may experience transient salivation after treatment. This reaction is temporary and should not cause concern.
Dosage and Administration
Prior to administering Popantel Tapewormer, it's recommended to weigh the animal to determine the appropriate dosage. The standard dosage is 1 tablet per 10 kg of bodyweight. For Spirometra erinacei, the dosage is 1 tablet per 2.5 kg of bodyweight.
For the control of hydatid tapeworm in dogs, treat every six weeks. Additionally, ensure that dogs do not consume offal from any species. For other tapeworms, administer treatment every three months, and regularly address flea control for your pet.
Pregnant bitches and queens should be treated prior to mating, ten days before and four weeks after birth, followed by treatment every three months.
